Once again, The North Jefferson News hands out “Game Balls” to players from each local high school football team. The selections are made by the team coaches, and are announced in each Wednesday’s edition. This week’s winners:
GARDENDALE
OFFENSE: Christian Green. 12 carries for 45 yards in the mud at Oak Mountain.
DEFENSE: Casey Carroll. Six solo tackles and 10 assists against the Eagles.
MORTIMER JORDAN
OFFENSE: Marquis Dobbs. 130 yards receiving, 68 yards rushing and two touchdowns.
DEFENSE: Rod Washington. The cornerback broke up two passes and had five tackles.
FULTONDALE
SPECIAL TEAMS: Deaundrea Marshall. 85-yard kick return for TD, his second in as many weeks.
DEFENSE: No award. “Other than Marshall, we stunk,” said Keith Register.
CORNER
OFFENSE: Zack Price. Threw for one touchdown and ran for another.
DEFENSE: Adam Hambright. Eight tackles in the loss to West Point.
HAYDEN
OFFENSE: Reese Butts. 65-yard touchdown run clinches first win of the season.
DEFENSE: Ethan Hays. 14 solo tackles plus four assists for the night.
TABERNACLE CHRISTIAN
OFFENSE: Brandon Dabbs. Caught his first touchdown pass of the year.
DEFENSE: No award. The 67-12 final score says it all.
