The City of Fultondale wants to help teachers who may be feeling the sting of proration.
At Monday’s city council meeting, a resolution was passed that would give approximately $100 per teacher unit to both Fultondale Elementary and Fultondale High School.
Mayor Jim Lowery, a former educator, said he knows teachers often have to spend their own money to buy necessary classroom supplies.
The total cost would be less than $10,000 for the city.
“The fee lists, in the elementary school especially, have grown so much,” Lowery said. “We’re just trying to close the gap between the state and county.”
