FULTONDALE — The Fultondale City Council approved a resolution Monday to authorize Mayor Jim Lowery to have debris removed from private property.
Under the resolution, Lowery could declare property to be a public health nuisance, then contract to have debris removed from it. Normally, the city cannot remove storm debris from private property, unless the owner grants permission.
In other business during their regular meeting Monday, the council:
* Extended its moratorium issuing permits for apartment building-construction, due to continued overcrowding at schools in Fultondale;
* Approved a business license for a new Firehouse Subs store, in the Promenade Shopping Center;
* Authorized the mayor to contract for operation of concession stands at local parks.
