FULTONDALE — Anyone who attended Fultondale Founder’s Day on Saturday would state the obvious: It was hot.

However, organizers said the 13th annual  event was one of the best ones ever. Randy Posey said that even the artists and vendors commented about how well-run Founder’s Day was this year.

Posey did not have an official count of how much money the festival earned or how many people were there, but he said attendance was at least as high as last year’s figure of 12,000.

Fultondale Chamber of Commerce director Teresa Vise agreed that this year’s festival was successful.

“We had a really good attendance,” she told the Fultondale City Council on Monday. “We are grateful for the trust you put in us.”

This year’s event was different in that two of the stages were under tents to help keep sun and rain off of the stages and audiences.

There was no car show this year, but Posey said the car show would be back next year, along with an additional stage for performers.

Fultondale Mayor Jim Lowery was pleased with the festival. He said traffic was handled well and was less of an issue than in years past.

Posey said he and other organizers have already started working on next year’s Founder’s Day festival.
